The Difference Between Genius and Insane Is What You Do With the Pen

The birds are out singing their song this morning as a perfect compliment to the shining sun on a day I have off from the laborious side of my job. This past week, as most lately, was a complete whirlwind of work, family, friends and lots of tunes in the car. Sadly my iPod died so it was back to CD and satellite radio listening. Before I leave on my out of town trip, replacing the iPod will be a necessary expense; messing around with CD changes for eight hours is not my idea of safe driving.

After sending the contract for a fairly large painting job that I will be completing in Maryland at the end of March, I wrapped up two other jobs this week. These jobs were vastly different but both a lot of fun to complete and one of my clients even snapped a photo of me on the ladder working on her glaze. Here is a nice shot of my backside for you to enjoy.

This week we signed a lease to move again so as of April first I will be living back in my hometown. Try as I did to find an apartment in any other town, the location for Matt to take the train to work and my proximity to clients had to win out in the end. A friend of mine once said to me that she ran out of white out and pages in her address book for all of my moves and finally just started writing them on post-it notes. I suppose I will always be a gypsy soul. Although I keep changing my address the bill collectors always seem to find me. Funny how that happens, as if accounts receivable departments all over the world have super human mutant powers for tracking like hawks in the air spotting a mouse hundreds of yards below.

Another thing that officially happened this week was my all time favorite quarterback, a man who never played the game for the money and someone who truly embodies what it means to enjoy what you do for a living, Brett Favre, retired from his position as quarterback for the Green Bay Packers. I grew up in New England and with that comes a certain level of love for the sports teams here so I would be lying to say that there is not some affection in my heart for the Patriots, but for the past sixteen years I have pushed that to the back burner and allowed my love for the Packers to bloom. Sundays for Packer fans will never be the same; it will be strange to watch those games without Favre after so many amazing seasons with him at the helm. “I’m not gonna sit here like other players maybe have said in the past & that I won’t miss it, because I will.” We will miss you too Brett Favre.

Since coming back from Maryland I feel like it has been non stop action around this place so now that my client calls are done I fully intend to take a breather and walk on the beach that I have not seen in at least a month. It will be great to get some fresh, salty air into my lungs and now that it is above twenty degrees and not snowing I might even enjoy the walk.

I just read on someone's blog today, on their reading list, there is a book called "Someone Comes to Town, Someone Leaves Town" by Cory Doctorow. I think it's scifi, but what could be more fitting a title for our lives. I'm glad you're moving to hometown, sadly I will be moving from mine. But, miss gypsy, please make your next move to San Diego - best to get there before it falls into the Pacific as global warming makes the oceans rise.
Love ya, Mum

*cat-call whistle!*

Check out that cute be-hind! ;)

Good to hear you're keeping busy. And sorry to hear of your loss: I'm sure I. Pod will be remembered for all the good times, all of the good songs. (Consider yourself lucky, though that you have CD & satellite radio -- hours before our last roadtrip (7.5 hrs each way w/2 little kids), our cd player had to be pulled from the dash since it was messing up pretty much all of the rest of the car. Ugh.)

Good luck with the move too, of course! :)

The loss of an iPod is always a traumatic event. You have my deepest condolences in your time of grief. ;)

oh, what sad times are these when ipods and quarterbacks retire to leave their loved ones wandering alone on the side lines with cd's...the new eight tracks..(heavy sigh)...i feel for ya jenn.

congrats on the rear end and the job and the new apartment.

and yes, your suspicions about AR clerks are true. i'm an AP clerk and have developed many needed super powers over the last few years to deal with their sneaky, sneaky ways. i think they sell their souls to satan when they take the job...that could be just a rumor though.

xoxo

Wendy - sigh. It was time but still makes me shed one glistening tear

Mum & Char - it is on girls! Thanks for that book suggestion Mum, maybe will pick up to bring to MD; thanks for the congrats C, can't wait to start!

Julie - stop making me blush lol! Yikes I would have poked myself in the eye on that trip. Portable radio & lots of batteries

Bree - Your sympathy for the loss of our family member is truly appreciated. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the "Jenn's new iPod fund"

Ginger - I KNEW IT!!! LOL See I should have just asked you all along...are you watching me right now? Maybe I should stop picking my toe nails...

I tried to leave a comment earlier, it had an error. Let's see if it works this time.

Anyway...I've been a bit of a gypsy lately too. Not staying in one place for more than a year since 2004. Well...okay, one time it was a year and a month before I moved. And in September I'm moving again!

I pay all my bills online so I don't think they ever do lose me...but the catalogs always find me (yes, they're addressed to me when they find me, not to "resident"). My alma mater always finds me too, to ask for donations. So I think catalog companies and universities must have some kind of magic too. =)

bridgete - roamers of the earth unite! Is it safe to assume you won't be sticking around this cold nightmare of a place once school is over?

Ginger - LOL! We did it on our old house in W. MA and it was freaky, we could pretty much pinpoint when it was by the car in the driveweay & old house next door that was still standing. I'm waving at you right now :)

PS All - Have you gotten your Mraz tix yet for the upcoming tour???

Ginger, I wouldn't sweat it yet. I mean, to be fair, they're calling it the "Music, Magic & Make Peace April Tour," at least according to Bushwalla's page. The only show listed after April is the June appearance at Sweden's Peace & Love Festival. So, I'd put money on him having other shows in between -- afterall, he'll have some promoting to do!

I weep for your broken iPod, I have no idea what I'd do if mine died. Sad day...sad day.

Yeah Ginger, I'm with Julie, other than CA shows he doesn't have much else in the rest of the country yet so there is still plenty of time for new dates to support the new album!

Welcome to my blog David, I love new visitors :)

Hey Andrea, yeah it was a very sad day but I will likely get a new one this week so the circle of life continues! All I can say is don't update iTunes, have read that kills a lot of them of course that was after Fluffy's death. Oh well!

As long as you have your original music, iPods can always be replaced. I have my own CD sob story, but I guess I'll just blog about it. Love this blog :)
